Hey, let me introduce myself!
Welcome to Black Tenon Furniture! My name is Hunter Locke and I am the owner and craftsman of Black Tenon Furniture.
I have always been interested in creating art, and I was constantly learning new medians to explore through. Once I discovered woodworking I immediately fell in love and know it is where I am meant to be. To jumpstart into the career, I quickly took several wonderful classes and courses at “The Center for Furniture Craftsmanship” in Rockport Maine, where I absorbed myself in their environment and learned from experienced furniture builders. From there I moved on to work directly with a successful furniture builder in Portland, Maine. Soon after I decided to take this craft into my own hands and start designing for myself and my own clients.
I believe that good craftsmanship and design is the foundation of any great piece of furniture. This is the reason I felt the need to branch off on my own, to pursue my own design style and use the techniques and skills I had developed learning and working with other furniture makers.
At this time I take on custom work, and am slowly growing my collection of furniture one piece at a time.
